Can soy suck the fat off your body?

I’m just as bad as you guys.

I totally did it too. When the rumors about soy causing cancer went malignant and spread to the best of us, I jumped on the bandwagon abandoning soy. I mean, it worried me. Thus, I supplanted soy with other plant protein milks that I didn’t love. The result? Unfathomable. My morning (and afternoon… and evening) lattes were so un-wonderful that it almost cancelled out the effects of my tri-daily caffeine fix. (#FirstWorldProblems) Then, thankfully, I found out – about a week into my self denial – that whole dose of B.S. (probably funded by the meat and dairy industry) was debunked. False. Faux. Fake news.

Figures.

(Let’s hope not…)

Anyway, the good news was that soy’s not bad after all.

And, in negative seven seconds, I was back to living my best, most slender life again.

See, soy’s been integral in my life on a plant based diet. The big question flesh ingesters hav always asked is, “Okay, so you’re super skinny… but where do you get your protein?” I’ve written many an article on this premise. But, for a while, when I said “soy”, they could come back with the mythical conclusions from that one rat study and tell me how bad it was for me. (Ya know, compared to the processed meat they eat that causes not only cancer, but arthritis and heart disease.) I’d just smile and say, “I’ll look into that.” And, after I finally followed up on my claim, I realized that not only were they misinformed, but that soy was even better for me than I thought. Not only was it keeping me slim, but it’s excellent for anyone else aiming for weight loss as well.

How? Well, for example, you know those appetizers you get at your fave quaint little Japanese restaurant? Well, those soy pods you pop open aren’t just great ’cause they’re fun to play with. And they don’t just cause weight loss inasmuch as you’re subbing it in for fatty American bread baskets either. Those badboys are actually super high in fiber. (Fiber: the good stuff that fills you up so you don’t binge when your two tiered tray of sushi and tempura finally arrives). Equally high in fiber’s my beloved soy milk we were just discussing a moment ago. Unlike skim milk, you get in a nice slice of of your daily fiber quota in a single cup’ve the stuff. Also unlike skim milk, that soy stuff’s rocking a lot fewer calories and sugar – while providing higher protein. And that protein factor (as mentioned) is a major bone’ve contention between bone picking meat eaters and veggie lovers. But, the truth is, since soy’s a complete protein food, you’re able to get all those essential amino acids you need to remain energized while you exercise, and to recover quickly after. (Unlike your poor arthritic cohorts with their overly processed meat and milk making ’em too brittle to hit the gym.)

So if you’ve abandoned this delicious protein filled bean because’ve fake news hating on it, you can stop.

And start enjoying your weight loss path all over again.
