Which Veggie Noodles Rule For Weight Loss?

September 29, 2018 Ashley 0 Comments

I’ll admit it.

Most veggie noodle subs are gross.

Okay. Maybe “gross” is a harsh word. But they just aren’t the same. And we keep trying to make them work because we know that legitimate udon makes you don an extra ten pounds in the long run. (Which not even a long run can work off…) These delicious carb worms are worse for your weight loss goals than PMS during a bad breakup. It’s frustrating to say the least. So, is there such thing as a happy medium? Which noodle shoo in can finally trick us into feeling satisfied like pho can? (Hey, say “pho can noodles” five times, fast…) The answer? “Pho can” zoodles can. I mean, sure, there’s a host of produce options to spaghettify out there. Beets. Cukes. Squash.

And I’ve squashed most of ’em into strings by now – only to be mostly disappointed.

Even though I’ve tried lying to myself by saying it’s just like the real thing…

(“Tastes EXACTLY like a real pizza!”)

But, mostly, everything from their taste to mouthfeel is a food fail of monstrous proportions.

I dunno about you – but I’d rather have nothing than a poor imitation of something I used to enjoy. So what’s the difference with zucchini noodles? Well, zoodles have a more comparable consistency when spiralized but they also take on the flavor of whatever you sautĂ© them with. Most other veggies I’ve tried retain their OG flavor. And that’s fine when I want that flavor. But when I want noodles and I’m tasting beet, it’s like getting wasabi when you’re expecting guac. That’s not an issue with zoodles. And, on a weight loss level, this stuff’s second to none. The fact that they’re veggie based makes you feel more full, while the lack of starchy carbs makes you crave second helpings less than basic pasta does. Plus, when contrasted on a calorie level, there’s no contest. While regular pasta’s more than 200 cals per cup, zoodles are only around 25 for the same amount. And this is great because, if the bland nature of any sort’ve voodles turns you off, you can guiltlessly flavor your plate up with olive oil n garlic salt til it’s enough like the real deal that you love your new, slenderizing doppelgänger pasta even better than legit linguine.

(Just don’t go *too* crazy with it…)

So, no need to eschew noodles.

Just spiralize your zooks for all the fun of curly noms minus the cals!
