Delicious weight loss smoothie, where have you “bean” my whole life?

Yes, beans are the magical fruit.

(“Ellie, did YOU do that?”)

But it’s not just ‘cause’ve the flatulence factor, as the old song goes.

Rather, it’s ‘cause’ve the amazing weight loss the delish li’l nuggets can help you achieve. High in fiber and protein, these badboys are ideal for bidding adieu to numerous pounds. But… what if you kinda detest everything – from edamame to lentils? Well, first, I feel terribly and will pray to the legume gawds for you. But, in the meantime, I’ll also offer this awesome concoction that’s brimming with beans – minus any of their taste. And how’m I gonna manage that magic? By buying them from the fabled Jack Spriggins’ dealer? Close. And by “close”, I mean “not at all”. Because the only magic happening here is what slimming sorcery happens when you dump a cup (or less) of these fat subtractors into a smoothie (pictured below – along with a link to the recipe) and drink it right after your workout.

All you’ll need to blend up are:

6 ounces vegan yogurt
8 almonds
1/4 cup broccoli florets, stems cut off
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup cannellini or garbanzo beans
3/4 cup iced green tea
1 teaspoon flaxmeal
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

And why should you be sucking this stuff down, you ask?

Before I make you waste your time?

Well, while the beans are your main source’ve protein – you’re also getting some’ve it from that handful of almonds, as well. Also offered by those almonds, however, is a bit of another macro you need: healthy, unsaturated fat. Meanwhile, the flaxmeal adds those omegas while filling you up (and adding the perfect thickness to your elixir) and the broccoli imparts fiber and antioxidants. For sweetness, the strawberries induce the ideal amount (without any’ve that refined junk that makes ya chubby). And, the other stuff? Well, the green tea helps rev your metabolism and energy, while the cinnamon kicks off a systemic response for weight loss as well. It’s essentially the ideal, tasty combo for weight loss. And it’s the perfect chaser after chasing your weight loss goals on the treadmill, track, trail, or whatever it is you do to keep movin’.

But why the emphasis on protein, though? And why the emphasis on gobbling it down at the end’ve your sweat sesh? As a vegan, I get hammered with the protein inquiry a good deal. And it’s actually good, ‘cause it keeps me on top of my own food game in all areas. (Probably more so than most other diet styles I’ve seen around me, TBH, including meat eaters consuming antibiotic filled fillets.) The truth is: for optimal weight loss, we gotta value all our macros and balance ‘em out. But timing them right’s also a great idea. And, while right after your workout’s a good time to burn up your carbs, it’s also a great time to get in that protein with something like this bean smoothie. Why? Because, that’s prime time for muscle repair. Having a sufficient amount of the stuff fuels the burn-age of fat (while simultaneously saving your calorie blasting lean muscle). And, promptly after your sweat sesh, the body meat you just murdered on the machines down at at the gains factory is at its most sensitive. That means it’s all primed and ready to accept the stuff it can use for damage control and growth – like the protein in this bean drank.

And that’s absoulutely “magical”.

Because now I can guiltlessly sip my way to weight loss with this delish toot-fruit smoothie.

(While still laying the guilt of any gassy factor on the dog. Obvi.)
