Can Tom Brady’s vegan meal delivery help you lose weight?

Now, I don’t know much about football.

But when I heard that one’ve the best QB’s on the planet, Tom Brady, had started a delivery line of vegan food, I was admittedly curious. Hate most sports though I do, I don’t live under a rock. So, yes, I had heard the dude typically eats healthy. However, what I didn’t know, is that he adheres namely to a plant based diet. (Incidentally, he’s not the only professional spartan of the sport pantheon who does; the only one to momentarily dethrone “The Notorious” Conor McGregor was vegan as well.) Plant based diets notoriously aid with weight loss. Add to that the fact that you don’t even have to shop for the vegan ingredients, and what more could you ask for? Naturally, I was curious. What exactly was in Brady’s box of edible tricks? How’d it work? Was it gonna be covered in healthless, processed glazes to make it savory?

Surprisingly not.

The service, which is called “TB12 Performance Meals”, is the lovechild of “Purple Carrot” (a vegan meal delivery service) and Brady’s own brand. 100% plant based, the kit comes with two servings per meal, thrice a week, for a grand tally of $78. And, honestly, I couldn’t think of anything more brilliant; especially for young couples and especially when the femme half’s vegan or vegetarian. Why? Well, something like Purple Carrot on its own’s gonna appeal mostly to those already interested in greenifying their diet. You couldn’t talk your wing loving hubby into forking out that for his fork. Not when his top hobbies include cookouts and wings with the boys on Sunday. But, what would happen if you told him Tom Brady’s behind it? His pigskin pitching god? His #MCMEveryday? Granted, not all guys adore the dude. But, for the majority who seemingly do, it’s the masculine equivalent to me feeling compelled to pull out my wallet for whatever shade of lipstick Gwen Stefani’s touting on her latest L’oreal ad. (Even though I don’t wear lipstick. At all. Ever.)

Absolutely genius.

But, speaking of L’oreal (to steal the brand’s catchphrase), is TB12 “worth it”?

Admittedly, that was a worry of mine. However, from the testimonials I’m seeing (away from the actual site – to ensure non-bias), people seem to be pretty pleased. The meals are gluten free (if that’s an issue for you). And while they’re low in refined sugars, processed ingredients, or soy, the meal plans are packed with protein. (Often a primary complaint or concern in plant based diets.) Also, your dining delivery’s accompanied by prep cards, which help you turn your ingredients into a delicious dish for two in a mere thirty minutes. And if you don’t like it? Well, apparently, they’ll refund at least fifty percent of your last order when you cancel.

But, judging by the reviews I’ve seen thus far…

I don’t think you’ll want so much as a quarter back.
