This DIY “ice cream” is legit fuel for your workout

We may all scream for ice cream.

But you know what else we scream about?

The scale – after our chilly faux-food with its litany of mystery ingredients wreaks somatic havoc on us.

(Fun fact: though screaming’s not the best weight loss tool, singing – which’s kinda like its kinder cousin – can burn 100 cals per hour.)

We’ve tried, Haagen Dazs bless us. We’ve migrated from Baskin Robbins and Coldstone to Halo Top and those other fancy confections. But between the high sugar content (which turns to fat in our bodies and leaves us craving more) and the fake ingredients (which do lawd-knows-what to our insides), there’s no fighting it. This is a “once in a while” kinda food. And, if you’re an abstainer like me (someone who’s so miserable at moderating that they hafta give up trigger foods altogether), it’s not even that. Which is kinda a bummer.

Or at least it was – until I discovered this treat that’s as sweet as it is healthy. And, this time, there are no catches. See, I’m partial to the vegan ice creams. They’re the compassionate and kind way to enjoy the same familiar deliciousness you did as a kid. Ice cream is oral nostalgia. Chances are, you probably grew up enjoying it. Unfortunately, we came to realize how bad it is for us – even occasionally. And, good as it tastes, most’ve the stuff you’ll find in the store’s either cream based (pumped full’ve antibiotics and pus ‘cause it came from Big Agro dairy cows) or got mystery ingredients you try to pretend you’re not bothered to gobble down.

Not so with “nice cream”.

Because you DIY (with three simple ingredients, no less), you don’t hafta worry about any’ve that. What’s more, there’re no concessions to make. No “Well, at least it’s fewer calories than Breyers”. No “Most other brands are packed with more fat than this”. And that, in turn, means no lies like, “I dunno why I gained ten pounds. The only ice cream I eat’s the ‘healthy’ kind…” Unlike those ice creams you hafta lie about to convince yourself you aren’t breaking the fat, sugar, and calorie bank – nice cream is literally healthy. Not comparatively healthy. Legitimately healthy. With nothing but frozen bananas, unsweetened cocoa powder, and peanut butter powder, you’re getting your potassium, your protein, and a little bit’ve natural sweetness.

Per womensrunning.competitor.com, the recipe’s literally this simple:

Chocolate Peanut Butter “Nice” Cream Recipe
Serves 2-3

Ingredients:
• 3 frozen bananas, with peels removed
• 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 Tbsp. peanut butter powder
• 1/4 cup warm water
Directions:

Combine bananas, cocoa powder, peanut butter powder and water in a food processor and blend until smooth. You may need to stir intermittently. If contents do not blend fully, add 1 Tbsp. of water and blend again. Repeat until fully smooth.

In fact, it’s so healthy, that those who make it swear by it as both a pre-training meal and an excellent recovery meal. While the protein is fab for fueling your workout, satiating you (so you don’t get hungry too soon after), and aiding in muscle repair post workout, the high potassium bananas make for an excellent electrolyte replenisher when you’re done sweating it out at the gym. Indeed, nice cream’s our dulcet dream come true. It’s the equivalent to your childhood vice; except this’s one you can enjoy not only guilt free, but proudly – knowing it’s serving a purpose on your pound dropping path.

So, let’s desert fake desserts forever.

Instead, let’s get real about weight loss by enjoying real ingredients our ice cream.

Then, we’ll never have to “scream” at that scale again.
