The sweat-free exercise The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan does to stay fit

Maggie may have started a farmer’s daughter.

But now she (or Lauren Cohan, the hottie who plays her) is a Resident Evil level, zombie slaying badazz.

And that’s likely ’cause she knows how to slay fitness like it’s one’ve the ambulatory cadavers on her T.V. show.

First, The Walking Dead‘s got her running for her life on the regular. But, aside from that, she also makes use of a personal trainer in her off time, takes a rest day where she makes sure to get in 20,000 steps, and knows how to recruit the glue that holds all of that together: using meditation to balance out her eating and exercise regimen. Sure, every workout with her trainer (which she does three to four times, weekly), is about 90 minutes long and ridiculously intense. And if she’s outta town? No excuses from this chick. She hops on Skype for an e-xercsise sesh.

But, to make sure any of that happens, Lauren sits in stillness daily to defrag her brain-computer.

And how does a zen zombie slayer make for fitness, you might ask?

When all you’re doing is sitting around with pinched eyelids -which burns zero point zero calories?

Fair enough. In the short term, meditation doesn’t seem to accomplish much. But what it does in the long term (when it rewires your brain) is clobber that life-zombie called imbalance upside the head. See, the imbalance Lauren struggles with is the one a lot of us do: it’s that inequality between eating and exercising. Much like TWD’s Neegan and his idea of “half” (AKA 90 – 100%), stress sets her into overdrive and demands too much food (and too little movement). Because meditation is a de-stressing method, it helps her mind find its way back to a nice middle ground by recalibrating her anxiety-ometer. After that, she can manage a healthy percentage of each. And that’s crucial because by taking care of herself, she can balance the other aspects of her life in a way that has a total domino effect. Per Health, she’s explained just why it’s so important:

“The best way for me to put it is that if my spiritual life isn’t bigger than my outside life, then I’m out of balance. I make my spiritual life a priority. I’m taking the time to be a better person so I can be of service—putting other people before myself.”

In other words, by taking better care of herself, she can then take care of her family.

And after that, she can take care of her T.V. corpse crushing family.

And, finally, in doing all’ve that, she can take care of our gore-lust entertainment every Sunday night.

“Worst yoga mat ever…”

Which I’ll absolutely be binge watching in a not-very-balanced manner when I catch up on TWD later tonight…
