Why swilling soda’s so dumb (if you wanna lose weight)

You’ve likely heard before that soda’s bad for you.

You’ve likely also heard that it can end your endeavors for weight loss.

But are we health nuts coming from somewhere legit?

Or just making a Mountain Dew out’ve a molehill?

Unfortunately for you soft drink junkies, the inimical nature of fizzy drinks is no myth. This stuff does definitely induce weight gain. First, if you’re having the regular non-diet stuff, there’s the obvious reason: calories. Cut those empty, unnecessary calories that aren’t offering anything nutritious to your body, and you’re losing weight already. But, after that, there’s the sugar and artificial sugar subs. Whether it’s the typical refined sugar or the faux stuff you see in the diet drinks, both mess with your metabolism, trick your taste buds into craving more bad food, and cause you to store more visceral (the worst sort) fat.

And, because you’re not meeting your meat puppet’s needs for balanced macros when you fill up on bubbly nothingness, you keep coming back for more junk food in lieu. Why? Because it’s tasty. But, because said junk food’s got no nutrition either, it turns into a vicious cycle of diabetes and obesity and chronic, gnawing hunger.

And, now that I’ve told you poor addicts that you have to quit this bad stuff to lose those unwanted el bees, I suppose that means I must offer an alternative solution. Lucky for me, I’ve never been addicted to soda – not for its filling factor or caffeine. (Although, unlucky for me, I’ve got an equally awful dependency on Starbucks’ line of liquid caffeinated dessert…) But, for those I’ve known who have (and who’ve kicked the habit), I can say that the following withdrawal routine’s helped them out heaps: green tea or yerba mate (for the caffeine), carbonated kombucha, lots of water, and – for the fizz factor – Perrier’s bubbli-fied water. While it might take a few days to acclimate, it’ll be worth it, I’m told. In fact, one girl I just talked to online told me that – after shizcanning carbonated sugar – she’s not only lost weight, but her cellulite, too. (Something I didn’t even know could happen.) That’s in part because of calorie and sugar reduction, but also because – according to scientists – that when you give up soda, your choices in snack quality improve, too. What’s more, other studies have shown time and again that nixing the fizz from your life can improve your weight loss goals by up to sixty pounds within a year. Not a bad trade off for that quick fix of caffeinated effervescence IMHO.

So, no, this’s no exaggeration.

Eradicating cola and other sodas from your diet is just what the doctor’s literally ordered.

And, no, I don’t mean Dr. Pepper.
