Add this ingredient to your morning oats for weight loss…

Your overnight oats are a trusted go to.

They fantastically fill you up so you’re not downing snacks half an hour after.

And that’s great.

(Nada worse than mid-morning munchies making you press every button on the vending machine.)

But, do you get the sense that something’s… missing?

Feeling like your porridge is doing a poor job of sustaining your energy levels through the day?

Indeed, high energy levels are a necessary element on our weight loss paths. And, to get that, we might be in need’ve a pinch of protein with those oats, say the pros. (And, no, we’re not talking about dropping bacon bits or tofu up in your morning meal.) Rather, according to the kitchen aficionados, the latest craze to abate your meal malaise is… spinach. Yep. That’s right. Popeye’s pre beat down formula is exactly what they’re telling us should go in our oatmeal now.

Now, sure, it doesn’t exactly sound appetizing. But, before we all collectively retch and run the other way, let’s at least hear out the rationale. Okay, first off, let’s start with the taste. (Because if it’s gross, I’m so not eating it – no matter how healthy it is, you feel me?) Well, we’re safe there. Because, according to those who’ve tried it, it’s not so bad. Sure, the preliminary steps sound like it’d be awful to the awfuleth power: first you blend up the spinach with the soymilk and chia seeds into a sort’ve shamrock slop. (Yes, that alone sounds dreadful.) But the food voodoo happens after. The redemptive ingredients performing a 180 on the taste happen with a dash’ve cinnamon sorcery and coconut witchcraft. (Really, those two ingredients alone can save your taste buds from nearly any supervillain of unsavoriness.) Then, after that, toss in some pulverized nuts, and you’ve added not only a deliciously awesome crunch factor, but extra protein, too.

(Greens. It’s what’s for breakfast.)

Alright, so that sounds suddenly edible.

But that St. Patty’s gag-worthy color’s still repelling all of us a bit, isn’t it? No problem there. According to the creators of this emerald breakfast masterpiece, we can remedy that with an additional bit’ve sweetness. How? Merely add cocoa powder, they say. Or, better yet (if you’re super serious about adding in that protein), plop in some chocolate flavored, plant based protein powder. Between the nuts, protein powder, and spinach, you’ll not only be getting your daily dose o’ protein. You’ll also be getting the healthy fats and filling fiber you need to function properly and stay satiated as well. What’s more, those greens are teeming with goodies like vitamins A and K, iron, folate, magnesium, and plenty more. All major players that’ll help keep you healthy and motivated on your weight loss path.

So, if your lack of protein n’ roughage has you feeling rough, try this new spinach-y spin!
